Nancy Malcolm
Welcome to Soulspeak. My name is Nancy and my mother died of a brain tumor when I was four years old. I feel strongly in the need for community and being with others who have experienced the early loss of a parent or loss at any age. Our grief is never a straight line. It comes and goes, up and down and often surprises us when we least expect it.
I’m so glad you are here. I want to share my honesty, experience and hope with you, and my wish is that you find comfort here and know that you are not alone in your feelings or grief. Please leave comments, I would love to hear about your journey and I know that as we share, we are encouraging others along the way.
My wife is Ruth Hooper’s niece. When we moved to Amarillo, we spent a lot of time with Aunt Ruth and her sister, Aunt Mary. They always were eager to babysit with our two young sons, which was like having two additional kindly grandmothers. We stumbled across this post and were thrilled to find it. I cannot begin to tell you how many times someone has related a similar story about Aunt Ruth. She took “beloved teacher” to a whole new level.

Larry, thank you so much for your comment. Miss Hooper was my guardian angel and truly made such a difference in my life. I hope she knows how loved and appreciated she was and is. Thank you again.
